Planning Team

12 College Place has a long-established history in handling the specialist workload of planning law. The planning team has continued to expand and contains members at all levels of seniority to respond to the complex and wide ranging issues raised by this field of work. The team is complimentary to other specialisms offered by us including those of environmental prosecution and property law. Within the membership of the team there are a significant number of members of the Planning and Environment Bar Association [shown as #] and the United Kingdom Environment Law Association. Members of the team are regularly instructed to act on behalf of central government departments, local government and statutory bodies. Members of the team undertake work on behalf of the private sector, including by way of instruction under the rules of licensed access. Members of the team regularly promote and oppose development proposals and appear in the full range of tribunals and courts relevant to this area of work. Members of the team have provided training on a range of topics in this field.

Local Government Team

12 College Place also has a traditional strength in dealing with public law cases extending into most aspects of local government law. This draws on a background of instruction by local authorities but has expanded into significant experience of acting on behalf of both central government and other administrative bodies and those who seek to challenge actions of administrative bodies. The work of this team is complimentary to the work undertaken by other specialisms offered in the fields of housing, criminal and family law. Members of the team have provided training on Standards in Public Life.
